Image Annotation Location

Greetings,
I saw some talk on this subject from a few years ago and I was hoping that there has been some progress.
I have a high/low chart on which I place image annotations indicating earnings dates. This is quite easy to do however the images frequently hide the neighboring high/low bars/candlesticks. I am looking for a way to determine a place on the chart (i.e. a y-value greater than the high of the OHLCItem) where the image will not impair viewing the bars/candles.
Has anyone tackled this issue?
