Grey vertical bars behind candlesticks?

Hi -
In the sample candlestick chart I see there are vertical grey bars behind each candlestick. Can these be eliminated - if so, how? I have never seen such a thing on a candlestick chart and notice the grey bars are different heights. Do they have a meaning? I wondered if they were a second superimposed time series but unless I'm missing something they don't appear to be.

yes they represent the volume, in grey color.
you can eliminate. there is a method, setShowVolume(false)
