Fix size of legend or plot area

Hi,
I have chart with legend is put under plot area.
When the number of legend items increases, plot area is narrowed.
So, is there any way to set fixed size for plot area or legend without modify jFreeChart source code ?
Currently, I use JFreeChart version 1.0.13
