Can you release JFreeDesinger that support JFreeReport8.7.2?

Post by beginner » Tue Apr 18, 2006 7:20 am

I've tested JFreeDesinger and I think it is OK.
Unfortunately it support only JFreeReport8.4.9.

Could you please release JFreeDesinger that support JFreeReport8.7.2?

Hi,

JFreeReportDesigner is completly stalled for now. :(
As far as I know there is no "planning" concerning this tool.

Use pentaho's Report Design Wizard

May I suggest using pentaho's Report Design Wizard. It's not perfect, but it's a good start and it's real. See http://www.pentaho.org

Pentaho Report Designer kinks

Post by macky » Sun Aug 06, 2006 11:20 am

I am using JFreeReports 0.8.7. I am having problems using XML parser yet the API works fine. Anyway, when I tried the Pentaho Report Designer, it does not output a JFreeReport compatible XML. So, now I have to work on 2 things 1) to make the XML parser work (bcoz, parseReport() always gives me a "statement not found error", and 2) should I continue using Pentaho.

Hi,

you have to 'export' the report definition in the designer. The designer uses an own storage format while you edit the report, and the export operation is the one that generates the JFreeReport compatible format.

Sorry, my mistake. I was using pentaho report wizard which is a different designer. However, I was wondering why pentaho did not include a JFreeReport compatible output in the report wizard? Anyway, I am quite happy with the API at the moment. I have to figure out why "parseReport" keeps giving me a "symbol not found" error in the java sdk.

Thanks.
