About the license

Hi.

I just have a question about the gnu license.

If a company wants to use this tool to develop a chart tool for use within the company and not bring it out for sale.
That would be all right, right?

Hello!

Yes! You can use it in any way you want to.
You can even sell your app that depends on this library.

The only thing you are obliged to is that any modifications you make directly to the JFreeChart source code must be made available to everybody.

This library uses the GNU LESSER GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE (aka LGPL).

Hi,

the GLP says, you are required to distribute the sourcecode with your program.

Copying a program within an organisation is not considered a distribution
(http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.htm ... stribution)

so you are not required to publish your sourcecode
(http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.htm ... stedPublic).

If you are still in doubt, it is the best to write a mail to the FSF (gnu@gnu.org), they will give definitive answers to all (L)GPL related questions.
