java plugin doesn't work, help please?

I've installed java plugin 1.3.1_01, but when i click on
the browser ( IE6 ) option->advance. the checkbox
should says 1.3.1_01... should be there, but it's not there.
And when i load jfreechart up the browser asked me to install a plugin. So obviously the plugin i've already installed is not communicating with
the browser. Can anyone here help?

Have you checked the browser configuration within the plugin?
The checkbox for IE within the browser menue of the plugin has to be checked.
