Zooming rectangle gets distorted by plot update

I remember having read a thread on the subject but I cannot find it anymore...

When the user drags a zooming rectangle on an XYPlot and the plot gets an update while the user is still dragging, the rectangle gets distorted in a strange way. It is partly redrawn and changes its shape to a sort of polyline. Has anyone else had this problem and perhaps found a solution?

Does that modification improve things? I can't think of a situation where it would make things worse, but at the same time I haven't been able to put together an example where it improves things either.
