Can someone provide me with a sample code to start with. I'm new to this graphing stuff( with java).

Take a look in the src/com/jrefinery/chart/demo directory in the download. There's lots of examples in there. Instructions for running the demo applications can be found in the jfreechart-0.9.4-install.pdf file that you can download from the JFreeChart home page.
