Export Stacked bar chart to MS Excel..

Post by santosh.gopady » Tue Oct 20, 2009 1:54 pm

Hello All,
I am new to jfreechart. I have generated a stacked bar chart and the same is written to a pdf file. Can the same chart be exported to MS Excel file. Please let me know how it can be done.

Thanks & Regards,

There is a solution for PDF because Adobe decided to publish the PDF file format as a standard. There is no solution for XLS, because Microsoft would prefer to keep this format closed or at least very obscure. Where do you want to go today?

I think its called Apache POI - it can produce Excel files among other things. Very low-level API IIRC. You have to know a lot about what you are trying to do. There are other 3rd party tools to produce Excel files that are more like templates that you fill data in to.
I have found CSV to be a pretty easy thing to output, and it will automatically load in Excel or any other spreadsheet for that matter. Downside is there is no formatting or fancy features.

Yes

For that you would probably have to look at a Java library that can handle MSOffice files, such as apache POI. But that is a different library, and in order to get hints on how to achieve that I would suggest to look for a more appropriate forum.

Yesterday I was discovering on the net and saw a lot of things.I acccidentally saw next tool-how to repair xls files of office 2003.To my surprise program recovered all my old damaged excel files. Moreover software made it for free and in seconds.Tool showed how it helps to prevent a broad range of issues that lead to the corruption of Microsoft Excel worksheets.
