customising x axis (JdbcXYDataset)

I am generating Time series charts. The data is being extracted from a database. On my x axis I would like to have a short data format. How can I do this?

At present the date format is printed as dd:mm:yyyy. I would like the shortest format. I use JDBCXYdataset .
