I think I can improve the JFreeChart so it can create a closer relationship with commerical JSP and JDBC.

For JSP, make sure you have checked out the Cewolf project:

It is a tag library based on JFreeChart, and I've been hearing good things about it.
For other changes to JFreeChart, you can submit patches here, by e-mail, or sign up on SourceForge and I'll add you to the JFreeChart project as a developer.
