Graph Interaction

I there anyway that JfreeChart offers interaction with the data such as clicking on a Bar in a bar graph and have the bar highlight which can then send coordinates back to the Java program for interpretation

Not in the current version, but I have bits and pieces of code from other developers that I am trying to work into the next version to support this.
